The gods of science!

When you watch a game of football, you always cheer for one of the two teams. Why? Because, you are either with team A or team B. In very very rare cases people watch football. In nearly all the cases football is subsided by team belongings.
Same goes for everything in life. You are either with one idea or the other. You are either with one party or the other. Family life is not much different as well. Your father or mother love all their children, but they always love one sibling more than the other. Their apparent love for all of their offsprings, is a self-deception, crafted under social effects and pressures. The objectivity of parental love vanishes like infatuation, the moment their favorite child, enters a conflict with the less appreciated child. Understanding the fact of unequal, parental love, suddenly makes unquestioned parental love a dogma. What is a dogma? Well, dogma is something that we never question, despite all its shortcomings. The word dogma is normally reserved for religious beliefs.

Poor! I'm not.

Human history is full of myths and legends. I mean there are myths about Hercules, and about Aphrodite. Then there are myths about Columbus discovering the new world. There are myths about flying thrones in Mahabharata, and myths about Rome being a democracy.
Then there are more recent myths about the Americans toppling governments for the good of depressed people. There are myths about terrorists fighting against terror. Myths go as far as Osama Bin Laden being a soldier of God. There are myths about aliens kidnapping people trying to boil perfect DNA in a lab.

Master of the universe...

Sitting in a cafe, having coffee, I have a lot on my mind. There are things that I can decide right now, and there are things that I want resolved right now. Strange isn't it! Things I can tackle are not the things that I want tackled right now. Probably it is human nature that our desires do not comply with our possibilities.

Achtung! Fascism is on the rise!

Farkhanda, an Afghan national, was just 27, an educated young woman, a teacher, and most interestingly a Hafiza. Why interestingly? Because the people, who killed her initially claimed that she had burnt the pages of the Quran. But, what she had done was that she stood up against a mullah, who was selling belief, and ripping-off poor uneducated, distressed, superstitious women.

Stereotypes

The days of my childhood and my early teens, were the days of rapid technological progress. The word “rapid” seems inappropriate if I would compare the pace of those long gone days, with the hurricane of technological progress that we face today, but those were the days of initial technological progress and back then it was not about enhancements, but about inventions.

International criminal safe haven…

On the 11th of March 2015, Pakistan Rangers raided the central office of MQM in Karachi. What they recovered from that office included convicted criminals, and a huge amount of weaponry. The level of sophistication, of the recovered weaponry, for the first time made it obvious for me, why were the people in Karachi and Hyderabad afraid of MQM, and why did they pay protection money on regular basis.
A couple of years back, while in Karachi, I had witnessed how the MQM thugs enforced strikes and urgent shutdowns. On the day of the killing of Manzar Imam, hardly more than an hour after his death, standing in the balcony of my hotel room, I witnessed MQM shutdown procedure in live action.

Crime and punishment…

In March 2015, in the Eastern Indian city of Kolkata, a group of burglars ransacked a convent. There is nothing strange about the burglars breaking into other people’s property, because this is what burglars do. However, it turned out that they were not burglars, but rapists. While robbing the place, they gang raped a 75 year old nun.
These rapists elaborated a very disturbing fact. It turns out that in India rape is something like a supplementary activity. While people commit other crimes, they try to boost their adrenaline levels, by raping women.
